...birds fly over the rainbow... I've been hosting bluebirds(& other birds)since 2004 when I put up the 1st bluebird box in my yard. I wasn't able to blog in 2010 but I hope that 2011 will give me much to share with you, many stories, photos, videos, not only of the bluebirds,but of the current birds in my area. I have so much to learn...I hope we can learn together.

I was able to follow the fledglings around on that first day of freedom. Fledglings don't look much like bluebirds. They have brown spots on their chests and back. They may have some blue on their tails and the tips of their wings...the more blue, the more likely it is a male.
The parents (mostly Daddy Blue) follow the kids around for about 14 days when they bring them to the mealworm feeder. At first, they will feed the fledglings but after a few days, the kids will have to learn how to feed themselves.
